RISE Across America
A Walk of Remembrance and Responsibility
RISE: Walk Across America is a national walk led by Prison 2 Praise Ministries to honor survivors of crime, families impacted by violence, children of incarcerated parents, correctional staff, law enforcement, first responders, and communities living with the ripple effects of harm, trauma, incarceration, and loss.
This walk begins on Friday, January 1, 2027, in California and will move across the country toward the 9/11 Memorial in New York City.
The journey exists to make the ripple effects of harm visible while carrying a clear message across the nation:
People can be restored, but harm must never be minimized.
Why This Walk Exists
Crime, violence, incarceration, trauma, and family separation create consequences that reach far beyond one person. Survivors of crime often carry pain that is misunderstood, minimized, or forgotten. Children of incarcerated parents carry separation, stigma, grief, and questions they did not create. Families, communities, correctional staff, law enforcement, and first responders also carry the weight of what they have seen, experienced, and endured.
RISE: Walk Across America is a deliberate act of remembrance, responsibility, survivor honor, family awareness, and hope.
It is not about minimizing harm. It is not about asking survivors to move on. It is about acknowledging pain honestly, honoring those impacted, and calling communities toward restoration rooted in truth, accountability, and care.
The Journey
Training and preparation are underway throughout 2026.
The walk will launch on Friday, January 1, 2027, beginning in California and continuing toward the 9/11 Memorial in New York City.
The route is being shaped intentionally to carry a message of remembrance, responsibility, restoration, and hope across the country. Beginning in California allows the walk to move from the West Coast toward New York, connecting communities, churches, survivor organizations, families, correctional partners, reentry organizations, law enforcement, first responders, and supporters along the way.
The 9/11 Memorial represents remembrance, sacrifice, grief, courage, and the lasting impact of harm on families and a nation.
From beginning to end, the walk carries one message:
Restoration must begin by facing harm honestly.
